OUR MISSION

THE STORY OF THE ATLANTA HISPANIC YOGA FESTIVAL

What started as a simple idea has blossomed into something greater than any one person. Today, the Atlanta Hispanic Yoga Festival is a collective effort—a growing network of passionate teachers united by a shared mission to uplift and transform the community. It’s no longer just about a festival; it’s about building a movement where culture and wellness intertwine, where every voice matters, and where everyone is invited to come as they are and find a sense of belonging.

Together, we are creating more than a yoga event—we are nurturing a community that celebrates identity, fosters connection, and empowers each person to thrive.

It all began with a yoga class—one that was unlike any other. It was taught in Spanish, a language that carries the warmth of home for so many. As the class moved and flowed, something stirred deep within. The teacher’s words—gentle, familiar, and full of care—felt like they could have come from a sister, a mother, or an aunt. Those phrases, spoken in the language of the heart, awakened a profound sense of connection to culture, roots, and community.

By the end of the class, a feeling of blissfulness lingered—a lightness, as if floating on a cloud. There were tears, not of sadness, but of joy. In that powerful moment, a vision was born: to share this experience with others, to create a space where every person in the Hispanic community could feel seen, heard, and deeply connected.

MAGDA OLVERA

DIRECTOR/FOUNDER

Born and raised in Mexico, Magda moved to the U.S. over 20 years ago and now calls Atlanta home. Her journey with yoga began as a way to heal her body after a knee injury, but it quickly grew into a profound practice that she feels compelled to share with others.

With over ten years of experience as a fitness instructor and a Yoga RYT200 certification, Magda brings intention, power, balance, and, most importantly, joy to her students. Her teaching philosophy is centered on fostering deep connections, helping students not only strengthen their bodies but also nurture their minds and souls.

Magda is passionate about introducing the benefits of yoga to a new community of Hispanic yogis by offering classes exclusively in Spanish. Through her work, she hopes to inspire the Hispanic residents of the metro-Atlanta area to take a break from their daily routines, reconnect with their cultural roots, and experience a sense of blissfulness, physically and mentally recharging in the process.
